how many accounts are settled on a single machine before purchasing hosting package. The most optimal number is about 20 sites on a server. Of course it depends on
the sites (how many visitors, how hard are the scripts coded, etc.).
Even on overloaded servers it is possible to improve the XCart performance and speed. First of all, it is necessary to detect what exactly cause overload and slow xcart performance.
It might be some complex php function or mysql query. Then it needs to be customized. Sometimes the problem can be solved just by disabling modules that you do not use.
